Cathy Osten Receives CSEA/SEIU Local 2001 Endorsement

Hartford, June 26, 2012:  On Tuesday, June 26, the Connecticut State Employees Association/Service Employees International Union (CSEA/SEIU) Local 2001, serving state municipal, school and childcare workers, as well as retirees, endorsed Sprague First Selectman Cathy Osten for State Senate in Connecticut’s 19th District.

“Cathy Osten is the real deal,” said Union President Patrice Peterson on Wednesday. “She’s been a tireless advocate for the rights of working men and women, constantly demonstrating what it means to be a fighter for middle class and working families. Cathy Osten is exactly the kind of person the Connecticut Senate needs.”

Osten, who was herself president of CSEA/SEIU from 2008-2010, when she retired from the Department of Corrections, was very pleased to accept the endorsement.

“I am honored,” she said, “that the working men and women of Connecticut have chosen to put their faith in me.”
Osten is running for State Senate in the 19th District, hoping to continue the work of retiring State Senator Edith Prague.

Osten is working to serve the towns of Columbia, Franklin, Hebron, Lebanon, Ledyard, Lisbon, Marlborough, Norwich, Sprague and the eastern quarter of Montville.
